New Card to calculate custom column and rolling column summaries

Its capabilities are the same as reduce or fold left in programming languages

As a follow-up to https://archive.org/details/akkartik-2min-2021-02-24, here's a screenshot of my Lisp-like HLL for the Mu computer showing how it computed a function call.

I've also been spending some time laying out the vocabulary I use to build programs like these: https://github.com/akkartik/mu/blob/main/vocabulary.md

This is slightly more on the business side of things than normal, so let me know if it's not appropriate and I'll delete it.

I'm just finishing up a tech accelerator programme at BetaDen with my tool WhiteBox, which is something like a real-time debugger/execution preview for C & C++, inspired in large part by Bret Victor's Inventing on Principle & Glen Chiacchieri's REPLugger.

There's a final video showcase coming up on the 18th, which is somewhere between a pitch & presentation from each member in the cohort. You're welcome to watch it yourself, and I'd really appreciate it if you could link it to any contacts you have with:

  • companies with 1-20 C/C++ programmers
  • computer science lecturers/teachers
  • anyone with experience in bringing software to market, particularly in the games industry(obviously only if you think they might be interested, don't spam people 😄)

The full showcase is on the 18th at 12pm GMT, with a Q&A at 12:55. My 7-minute slot starts at 12:33 if you're not available for the whole thing.

You can sign up for it at either of these links:

Cheers everyone!

(P.S. If you want to get/give a better idea of what WhiteBox is, you can see a demo I gave to a programming conference here: https://media.handmade-seattle.com/whitebox-systems/)

This is totally relevant, and you did a good job making that case. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Ivan 😀

Ooh very cool! You might be interested in this round table discussion with a few other people who work professionally on C++ debugging tools (mostly). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wr4Mpp1crh0
